It's been more than five years since I announced my intention to write a book called The Greatest Record Ever Made, a title later tweaked to The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume 1). My work on the book began way, WAY more than five years ago. It's been a long-threatened labor of love, and it will finally see print in July.
There is so much to do in a very short window of time. But I'm determined to meet my self-imposed deadline. JULY 2024!! The formatting is done, and it looks great. This past week I completed a final proofread of the pdf, and tried to finalize some behind-the-scenes mechanics. I finished the cover.
And now, I've authorized the process of publishing the ebook and the physical paperback. Street date is July 10th. Smashwords even has the ebook all ready for purchase and immediate download. I'm looking into hype and publicity, and if YOU have a forum to help me with getting the GREM! word out, I am all ears.
Although I've been a writer far longer than I've been a DJ, I'm not sure that any of this--not this book, not last year's book Gabba Gabba Hey! A Conversation With The Ramones, not even my recent contribution to Remember The Lightning magazine--is likely to have happened if I didn't have this weekly platform of This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl.
So I'm happy. Each week, Dana and I have the great pleasure of slappin' together music for another exciting example of The Best Three Hours Of Radio On The Whole Friggin' Planet. Everything ties together. It's work.
But it's FUN!
The work continues. The fun continues. This is what rock 'n' roll radio sounded like on another Sunday night in Syracuse this week.
This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio with Dana & Carl airs Sunday nights from 9 to Midnight Eastern, on the air in Syracuse at SPARK! WSPJ 103.3 and 93.7 FM, streaming at SPARK stream, and on the Radio Garden app as WESTCOTT RADIO. Recent shows are archived at Westcott Radio
You can read all about this show's long and weird history here: Boppin' The Whole Friggin' Planet (The History Of THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO).
TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATIONS are always welcome.
The many fine This Is Rock 'n' Roll Radio compilation albums are still available, each full of that rockin' pop sound you crave. A portion of all sales benefit our perpetually cash-strapped community radio project:
